Rather than “teaching”, which sounds like handing out hard instructions, I enjoy helping people gain new skills and grow their knowledge.

I’ve been active in this field since the year 2000, when I gave me first class (HTML Programming basics) to my peers at the Merz Akademie Stuttgart. Since then, I continued to give classes and workshops, designed, developed and executed on my own the digital marketing training program ON FOR OFFS at McCANN WORLDGROUP, which was requested and adapted in other companies offices worldwide.

For OMD I designed and implemented WHAT IF. A full set of Design Thinking techniques aimed to push disruptive ideas in solving marketing problems while being fully and seamlessly integrated into the existing workflow of the agency.

In parallel I gave classes in Digital & Innovation Strategy at the IED Instituto Europeo di Design and European University Madrid, Mobile UI/UX Design at Trazos_, as well as working with a group of international students during their exchange program BEST at the University Carlos III in Madrid to develop their Marketing Strategy & Plan for their startup business projects.

Since 2014 I’m accredited Academic at the EOI Business School where I helped Executive MBA students improve their visual storytelling skills as well as created my own business design consultancy STARTUP ASTRONAUTS* to help companies innovate through creativity.

Martin helped increase the student's interest and motivation outstandingly. Compared to other lectures the same week, the students kept working hard to win the competition of the best startup business model. It was exactly the type of lecture we were looking for.

EOI Business School / Executive MBA ``Narrative Design`` - September 20th, 2014

What does it mean to live in today’s world where visuals impact you like hail falling from the sky? The  half-day workshop helped the participants understand the importance of transmitting your message through a story, accompanied through visuals to not only sell a simple idea, but a whole project or business plan in front of investors.

The workshop was held based on the STARTUP ASTRONAUTS* methodology of “emotion”. The participants lived the workshops topic of Narrative Design throughout the session while they had to apply the freshly learnt knowledge in a series of activities.

As part of a one-week workshop with students from over 19 countries, I held in the name of STARTUP ASTRONAUTS* a 100% hands-on workshop to develop a Marketing Strategy based on Market and Consumer Insights for their startup business plans.

What does it mean to design for a user on the go who’s accessing information through a small screen? Basic design principles and usability guidelines were discussed as an introduction for an intensive training course in Mobile UI/UX Design & Prototyping.

In a digital world, people need to think digitally and design digitally (even if they aren’t designers). What are the rules in graphic, typography and color-coding to design for the tech-savvy user?

Basic rules and tools were presented so that all participants could immediately and seamlessly start working on their real-life briefing.

Universidad Europea / Lecture ``Innovation – Techniques and Processes`` - November 16th, 2012

For the second year I’m teaching at the European University of Madrid as part of the Master’s Degree “New tendencies in advertising communication” – a joint program between McCANN WORLDGROUP and the University with the objective to teach student of how to stay at the cutting edge of communication trends in relation with technology & innovation.

This master’s first lecture was a 4h introduction into innovation where the students learnt about the importance and types of innovation, different innovation techniques and case studies. With different activities the students were shown how and why creative problems solving is key and how teams can be created by mixing personal profiles (abilities and competencies) to ensure success.
